NHS Blood & Organ Donation

Over 6000 people in the UK are waiting for a transplant to save their lives. Many more thousands of people need life saving blood and plasma transfusions everyday. The NHS is in desperate need of Blood and Organ donors, especially from BAME backgrounds. If you haven't already registered your decision to actively opt in, the best way to do it is to go online  to www.organdonation.nhs.uk.

The government passed a bill  that came in to effect on May 2020 that automatically opts in all adults for organ donation. This means that if you do not wish your organs to be donated after death, you need to actively opt out. However, despite this automatic opt in, should you wish to donate your organs, it is good practice to actively register your decision to opt in. This is so that your next of kin can be aware of your wishes.
